As one of the outcomes of the World Lake Conference (WLC) – Bali in November 2016, it was agreed to build a network of collaborators among researchers in the ASEAN region, particularly in the limnology field through SealNet (Southeast Asian Limnological Network). The goal is to encourage joint study, particularly the tropical inland waters which rich in biodiversity and uniqueness, different character to the sub-tropical regions. Research Centre for Limnology – LIPI as one of the WLC Bali 2016 committees, was asked to be the secretariat of SealNet in organizing the Sealnet’s activities.
One of the activities to be held this year is the International Conference on ecology and biodiversity in Penang, Malaysia. USM as a committee and Research Centre for Limnology – LIPI as a co-organizer with the support of other members of SealNet. In addition, besides the programs in this conference (seminar, discussion and and training), there will also be the first SealNet meetings to leverage future programs that could potentially be implemented. The objective of this meeting, communication and sharing experiences among ASEAN countries in the management of inland waters could be conducted.
In addition, Selected papers and presented in coference will be published in IOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Sciences, a publication that is indexed in Scopus, as well as EI Compendex and Inspec.
